Hall Green Mask Making and Performance

Masks were created as part of the design diploma course where students would also incorporate elements of textile work. The masks were made to be worn in a performance that would be taken to Fox Hollies School (link to fox hollies project). We  particularly explored characters that are rooted in the animal kingdom and that could exist in a fantasy world like Narnia.

The project involved working over two terms. Term one focused on creating the structure of the masks and painting techniques this was achieved in 3 half days with students also working independently between sessions.

Term two focused on masks into performance with 3 half days to devise and create a 10 minute piece. The students  although not from a performing arts background created a truthful and beautifully comic piece. I was also able to draw on my experience and training with link famiie floez . to help them develop their ideas and work with the masks . The performance was well received by staff and students at Fox Hollies. I have an interest in developing more work that links in this way.
